Artist's Comments

In ancient times, it was believed that peacock flesh didn't decay. Therefore peacocks came to represent resurrection and immortality.

In Islamic myth, it is said that peacocks stand guard at the gates of paradise.

In Hinduism, peacocks are the steeds that pull the carriages of the gods. They are a sacred animal.

In Christianity, early believers took the many eyes on the peacock's feathers to represent the all-seeing eyes of their lord.

Just a few of the many divine manifestations of the peacock, the earthly embodiment of beauty, esteem, pride, and majesty.

i think it has something to do with the odd radial balance along with the unusual colors in nature.
